Sorry, the <xsl:template name="named-thingy"> wouldn't be empty, it would contain the literal result elements and instructions you need to execute to produce your result.


Called templates can have parameterized variables and can be invoked on demand as many times as you need, so you can probably distill further fragments at a finer level of granularity that your called templates can, themselves, call to help with code maintenance.
