Thanks Mike - the question is how to lose the html: prefix *and* unescape
all incoming text nodes.  (This is a little weird, I know.)

The problem stems from the fact that I have a computer generated XHTML
document.  The text in the document was typed in via web forms.  This is the
reason for the escaped html embedded in valid XHTML.  The idea is that the
users can type in HTML - valid or invalid - and it will appear in the HTML
stream exactly as they typed it.
