That's a pretty amusing bit of obfuscation. I'll admit I scratched my head for a bit. ;-) Interestingly, EZ/X returns: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> 2 which isn't what I expected (<a>1024</a>). It seems to be missing the literal element and to have parsed the multiplicative expression incorrectly.
