xsl whitespace question

Hi Collegues,

I have a little xsl question:

I want the following:
(1) Absatz 1...... and so on on the HTML side.

My xml is tagged inside an <Absatz> group:
<Absatz>
   <Absatz.AZ>(1)</Absatz.AZ>
   <Absatz.Satz>Absatz 1......</Absatz.Satz>
</Absatz>

I cannot bring the things together with a space between the (1)_Absatz...

Could You give me an example please?

<xsl:template match="Absatz">
 <fo:block font-family="Times" font-size="9pt" color="black">
  <xsl:apply-templates match="Absatz.AZ"/>
   <xsl:text> </xsl:text>
  <xsl:apply-templates match="Absatz.Satz"/>
 </fo:block>
</xsl:template>

does not work. Why?
