fop new version
After a mad frantic rush to get something out before I leave for North
America tomorrow, I've just put a new version of FOP at
http://www.jtauber.com/fop/

FOP is the world's first (and still, I believe, only) formatter driven by
XSL formatting objects. It is a Java application that reads an XML document
representing formatting objects (eg the output of XT) and then turns it into
a PDF document.

Version 0.6.0 is a complete re-write in light of the most recent XSL working
draft. It only implements a fraction of the formatting objects and
properties but the overall framework is now there and it should be
relatively easy to add more support (assuming the XSL working draft doesn't
change too radically). FOP should still be considered alpha.

I now plan to release new versions pretty regularly, particularly in
response to requests for certain features. So if FOP doesn't do what you
need, let me know and I'll give priority to implementing your requested
feature.

Note, though, that I will be out of regular email contact for the next two
weeks (I'll probably be reading occasionally, but no guarantee I'll reply
straight away).

If you are interested in finding out more about XSL formatting objects and
how FOP works, please come along to the XML/DOM Track on Developers' Day at
WWW8 where I shall be giving a presentation on FOP.

James
