>I just honestly can't >understand why someone would want to implement either XSL FO-only documents >or software. What'd be in it for them? OK, role playing. Let's say I'm a "page layout artist" who uses QuarkXPress to create printed pages that look *exactly* as I want. I like printing to PDF and posting those to the web, 'cause it's easy and I get to control how it looks. (I tried using HTML but can never get it to look right -- plus it's tons of extra work.) But, some people complain that they don't like PDFs. So, I look around and find a plug-in for QuarkXPress that outputs to something called an FO. And, amazingly enough, it looks pretty close to my printed page in all the recent browsers that I check. Great! Now I can continue to produce documents using existing tools and output a standard format that WC3-blessed browsers display like I want them to display. ... >What've they got that PDF et al. ain't got? They work in any browser. cheers, -- SSL, PreFab Software <http://www.prefab.com/> XSL-List info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list
