There is no way to transform XSL to former XSL (Alias you've told of
"Microsoft Compatible")

The only way is to use an XSL Engine that is conform to the working
draft 1.0 of XSL (the XSL you use).

If you want to work with Java, you can use mine, which is free, at
http://www.inria.fr/koala/XML/xslProcessor

If you don't want, I think there is another processor in Python, but I
don't know where exactly, you can find it in the Archive of this
mailing-list.
