I share your views - and concerns. I think the current requirements
highlights the role of textual formatting and interactivity - although
mentioned - is likely to be downplayed.

I developed JUMBO1 to read the XSL-syntax but not implement the formatting
(flow objects). I had and have a very great requirement for an XSL-like
language for interactivity and/or transformation (but will leave the text
formatting to others). I have made these views known periodically...
