process-element-with-id

Is there an equivalent of the "process-element-with-id" syntax of DSSSL in
XSL. I am processing an XML document which has a glosaary type construct
directly below the root. Later in the document there are references back
to these glossary entries. I would like to "jump" to the glossary entry
and continue processing rules.
After looking at the DSSSL spec I saw the process-element-with-id statement
which appears to do this but I don't see anything in XSL which would do it.
