If you declare both namespaces, you could edit the code to reference eg <xsl:template match="old:element | new:element"> but that becomes unsupportable if the standard changes namespace every year and you are going to want to be able to handle every statement past and present (and if there are many templates and other references to update). (I do this in my recipes code to handle my own schema, Docbook, and TEI, but that only requires two edit points, and it's still experimental.) Peter
