Thank you. Sort of forget every call creates a stack. Will look at
xsl:interate but now thinking if must use V2 how I might solve the problem.

Please note that on larger strings recursion based solution can easily
cause stack overflow. So if something can be written using xsl:iterate
I would suggest using it.
