That's because it *is* allowed. When you use an XSLT 2.0 processor, you can use XSLT 2.0 syntax, even if your stylesheet specifies version="1.0".

Thanks, I didn't know that. Without giving it much thought, I was under the assumption that specifying version="1.0" would preclude 2.0 syntax. Thanks for clarifying.
