RE:  count(preceding-sibling ) not working
Adam,

The <xsl:number/> construct is what you want here, but you need to
remember that <xsl:number/> in itself is essentially:

	<xsl:value-of select="count(preceding-sibling::*)"/>

With that in mind, remove @value (that's only really used if you're
formatting a static number with @format), and use:

	<xsl:number count="*"/>

That'll give you count(preceding-sibling::*). If you actually need to
traverse the preceding:: axis (not just the siblings of the context
node), use level="any". I think you'll find the native behavior of
<xsl:number/> to be exactly what you need here. Cheers!

Subject:  count(preceding-sibling ) not working

Folks

I suspect this is a novice question, so please accept my apologies in
advance..

I have a for-each loop like this:

<xsl:for-each
select="expensys:Lines/expensys:Line/expensys:Accruals/expensys:Accrual"
>

<txn:PSIBS>
   <xsl:number value="count(preceding-sibling::*)"/>
</txn:PSIBS>

<!-- More code here -->

</xsl:for-each>

The for-each selects a number of nodes, typically 5 - 7, but the value
oout in <PSIBS> is usually 0.

I know could use "position()", but after I solve this problem I need to
apply a filter to the PSIBS
value.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks - Adam
