Re: recursive sorting by element name
I think you just want the single template:

<xsl:template match="*">
	      <xsl:copy>
<xsl:copy-of select="@*"/>
<xsl:apply-templates>
<xsl:sort select="name()"/>
</xsl:apply-templates>
</xsl:copy>
</xsl:template>

If you have mixed content (rather than all elements or all text) you'd
have to be a bit more careful (the above would sort all text nodes
together, along with commnts and other unnamed nodes).
