you need to use the xhtml namespace in that case. FF in xml mode doesn't
know what to do with an element called "html" in no-namespace.



Actually i think (but may be wrong) that Moz/FF adds the XHTML namespace by itself when HTML is used as the output method (hence the a0 or similar prefix in the transformation result serialization that breaks CSS rules for some reason).
