all xml including FO can handle all of unicode, so there is no reason
why a translation from a different xml format to FO should do anything
special with greek characters.

In general you haven't given anything like enough information for any one
to help, as in general the problem as you have stated it is impossible.

You have a translation from some xml vocabulary to FO and you are asking
for the reverse translation. In general this is not possible as teh
translation to FO mighht have discarded any amount of the original
input.

If you have a particular translation process in mind, that always
generates FO files in a format that you know contains all the
information in the original file, then you can write a translation that
gets back to the original file, but whether this is possible depends
greatly on the translation to FO that you are trying to reverse.
