this function returns true or false and takes only one string as an

I'm basically trying to do the pseudo T-SQL equivalent of:
SELECT Red, Green, Blue
FROM foo
XML:
------
<foo>
<red>value</red>
<green>value</green>
<blue>value</blue>
<brown>value</brown>
<black>value</black>
</foo>
