A pure XSLT 1.0 solution can be found at <URL:
http://crism.maden.org/consulting/pub/xsl/iso8601.xsl >.
You can call the process-date named template with:
<xsl:with-param name="string" select="'2005-05-10'"/>
<xsl:with-param name="string2" select="'2005-07-10'"/>
<xsl:with-param name="command" select="'s'"/>
and it will parse the dates, then subtract ('s') the two, and return the
difference in hours. Divide by 24 to find the number of days.
