Jake, that was just an example of using modes to invoke different templates
... which happen to reside in different stylesheets. Adding a "version"
attribute (as you indicate below) and branching on that value are necessary
for your specific problem, but are simply clerical details wrt the general
approach.

Thanks for the reply. How do we know which "mode" the input file
(doc.xml) should be transformed in?
Should it not be like this :
The input file (doc.xml):

</doc>
