Hi David, Thanks for your reply. In my case I am getting the XML String at run time. My programme wont have any knowledge about the xml file name location. Do you really want this forat, it won't be possible to process it with any XML tool. You can't have an XML declaration <?xml ... anywhere other than the first few characters of the document. If you don't want the xml declaration there then your xslt just needs <address> <xsl:copy-of select="document('the2ndfile.xml')"/> </address> and the contents will be copied in to the result.
