Not really, some functions work on nodesets (count() and sum() for
example) and sum operators don't: anything that uses a string or numeric
value coerces just the first node in the set and junks the rest so
so the operator + in foo+bar takes the set of nodes selected by foo and
that selected by bar and adds the first in each set and ignores the
rest.
