I'm sure that what you want to do is doable. Possibly you need to do some Muenchian grouping as described at http://www.jenitennison.com/xslt/grouping/muenchian.html with a compound key such as: <xsl:key name="airings" match="airing" use="concat(@day, parent::timezone/@value)" /> and you'll certainly need to use the substring() function to work out which values are a.m. and which p.m., and to get the sorting to work, but without knowing precisely what output you want it's hard to tell you exactly what to do.
