You can assign the input document to a variable or use the Saxon system-id() extension function to capture the system ID, e.g.:

<xsl:stylesheet>
  ..
<xsl:variable name="orig_doc" select="/"/>
<xsl:variable name="orig_doc_system_id" select="saxon:system-id()"/>
