Hi David and Elliotte, Thanks for your advice. Yes, we understand that it is bad form to have the XML document embedded in the CDATA, but unfortunately that's the way it exists in the 4-year-old data we're mining. We're using Xalan, so I think I'll be able to call a Java extension that takes the string as input, strips off the XML header, and then turns the remaining string into an XML node that gets returned to the transformer.
