Maybe you use a Xalan release which is incompatible with your user class, or you have two incompatible Xalan releases on your class path. Xalan's internal interfaces changed over the course of time. You might get more competent help on Xalan's user list. Mail to xalan-j-users-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx for subscribing.
