latin 1 eacute

surprising but not a bug.

what arrived here was a latin1 eacute ie it looked like an e with a '
over it and it's taking up a single byte on my hard disk.

The thing about mail though is it often goes through gateways that
re-encode the message so I can't tell whether your actually posted latin1
or utf8 encoded text. By the time it got here the MIME headers on your
mail said:

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

and ISO-8859-1 is just the posh name for latin-1.
