You might like to read my chapter in the book "XQuery from the Experts" http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0321180607/qid=1063266818 Also the discussion summarized at http://www.xmlhack.com/read.php?item=1080 (which was a while ago but still relevant). XQuery and XSLT were designed for different application areas, but there is a huge overlap in functionality, and the chances are that many people will try to use one tool for both jobs. But XQuery implementations are likely to be much better at searching large databases, and XSLT will continue to be much better for generating HTML or other presentation forms. > > > Hi, > > I am wondering if XSLT can act as a query language over > XML documents, even a restrictive one. > > BTW, is there any discussing group on XQuery as nice as > this one on XSL? There are lists - see the XQuery home page - but they are not nearly as nice as this one.
