I just need to supply a pattern to the value instead of a variable... <xsl:sort select="//filterOrderBy/@value" order="ascending" /> I didn't catch the beginning of this thread but that can't possibly be what you want. Your sort key starts with // so it will be the same for every item, so nothing will be sorted at all as you'll just be comparing the same value over and over again.
