 if you show the result of your transform that would be much more helpful...I am assuming that the HTML source code is not that.
for fun and giggles try these non-xslt related actions;
- change encoding
- remove the dubious <meta content="text/javascript" http-equiv="Content-Script-Type"/> tag
- in fact remove everything that has nothing to do with your test
