 In Xpath data model how the root's(or an element's ) value is determined? Level-order traversal(breadth first search) or some kind of different calculations according to node type? The value of any element is the concatenation in document order of all of that element's descendent text nodes. The value of the root is the value of the document element. And what is the brief explanation of document order in XPath data model? I tell my students the easiest way to remember document order is "the order of the start tags" (where I'm including empty tags in the set of start tags). This becomes helpful trying to grok "reverse document order" for some of the axes. I hope this helps. ........... Ken
