jdom advantages

I have yet to see any of the claimed advantages of JDOM -- except,
possibly, slightly greater programmer convenience -- borne out in actual
tests.

The downside, of course, is that it isn't well established as a standard
and tends not to be supported by off-the-shelf software.

Xalan does not directly support JDOM.
