What is the normal behaviour when you specify special character value in attribute value ? There aren't really any special characters in XML, all characters are normal. If you put a character in an attribute value then you get that character (except for newlines which you get as &'10;) The exception is if you are doing the html output method, and writing an html attribute that is a URI (a href= or <img src= then that attribute is URL encoded (using %ab hex quotes) If your system is URL encoding the value attribute then it should not be doing that and you should report it.
