<xsl:element name="input">
<xsl:attribute name="type">checkbox</xsl:attribute>
<xsl:attribute name="id"><xsl:value-of
select="@DetailId"/></xsl:attribute>
</xsl:element>
is a very long way of writing
<input type="checkbox" id="{@DetailId}"/>
<xsl:if test="@Type = 'DropDown'">
</select>
</xsl:if>
XSLT has to be well formed XML,
<fooo>
</xxx>
</foo>
will not get past the XML parser so your stylesheet will not be seen at
all by the XSL:T system.
