If you want to invent a private syntax for communicating data between
your systems, you are of course welcome to do this, which will involve
writing your own parsers and other tools to handle it. This is costly,
which is why many people have chosen to use XML instead. Having chosen
to use XML, it has to conform to the XML rules. You need to explain this
to your users.
