No. Entities are handled by the XML parser before XSLT ever starts.

If any XML file uses an entity reference other than amp lt gt apos or
quot and does not reference a DTD that defines the entity then it is an
error and the document is not well formed. Such a stylesheet would never
be handed to the XSLt system at all and you'll just get a parse error
from the XML parser.

If you want to save the texts in a way that XSL knows about them, why
not use XSL variables rather than XML entities?
