hierachy menu
That's not quite the solution as their XML already has the menu hierachy
created. What I am trying to do is to extract the menu (TOC) hierachy
from the XML file I have created

Thanks anyway I got that bookmarked now for future use

I don't know if I understand what you want completely but I think
Microsofts DXML tutorial might give you some good ideas on where to
start.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dncodec
orn/html/corner052499.asp

They generate a dynamic TOC with XML, XSL, CSS, and a little bit of
JScript.
