Ok, I have modified the xml file to: <?xml-stylesheet type='text/csv' href='test.xsl'?> and the xsl file to: <xsl:output method="text" encoding="ISO-8859-1"/> Then I recreated the page and tried to open it with excel. It didn't look any better. Am I missing anything here?

use xsl:output to indicate method="text" and media type text/csv

You can easily generate a CSV file that can be opened in Excel.
