Hi, It's an error for <xsl:param> to have both a select attribute and non-empty content. specify some node. Since the context node (for global parameters like this one) is root therefore yuo can exclude select altogether. Your cmdline call is correct. <?xml version="1.0"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:template match="/"> <xsl:param name="commandparam" select=""/> <xsl:value-of select="$commandparam"/> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> My questions are: 1. If i want to read the parameter through -PARAM, is the above xsl correct? 2. what would be the command that runs in the commandline to pass on the parameter. would it be something like this.. java org.apache.xalan.xslt.Process -IN commandlineexp.xml -XSL commandlineexp.xsl -OUT multi -PARAM commandparam commandparamvalue? please let me know if i am wrong and in that case the correct syntax of the commandline statement and the xsl structure laura Regards, Pavitra Jain _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com XSL-List info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list XSL-List info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list
