nope but there is, for example, saxon:evaluate($myxpath) requiring saxon of
course.

if you did <condition for="A">hello</condition>

then you could do something like the following simple example:

<xsl:variable name="doc" select="document('doc2.xml')"/>

<xsl:template match="/">

<xsl:apply-templates select="/root/A"/>

</xsl:template>
<xsl:template match="A">
<xsl:variable name="con" select="."/>
<xsl:param name="name" select="name()"/>
<xsl:message><xsl:value-of select="$name"/></xsl:message>

<xsl:apply-templates select="$doc//condition[@for = $name]" mode="doc2">
<xsl:with-param name="con" select="$con"/>
</xsl:apply-templates>

</xsl:template>
<xsl:template match="condition" mode="doc2">
<xsl:param name="con"/>
<xsl:message><xsl:value-of select="$con"/></xsl:message>

do stuff here

</xsl:template>
