The edit script that i will be generating will be

1. Add subtree at m as first child of a
2. Add node n as the third child of n

How i can i achieve this in xslt ? (I know that xslt will generate a
completely new file. )

I left out an intermediate mental translation step:

1. Insert node m before the first child of a.
2. Insert node n before the second child of a.

That can be "compiled" into

1. Create m.
2. Copy the first through first children of a.
3. Create n.
4. Copy the second through last children of a.
