You can't in XSLT.

<xsl:when test="$js_var='1'">one</xsl:when>
<xsl:when test="$js_var='2'">two</xsl:when>
<xsl:otherwise>
<xsl:value-of select="$var"/>
</xsl:otherwise>
</xsl:choose>
Would work.
