One way to do this is the following:

<xsl:variable name="neatXML">
  <xsl:apply-templates select="/root/client/months"/>
</xsl:variable>

Then in your code use this RTF in the following way:

<xsl:apply-templates select="xxx:node-set($neatXML)/root/client/month"/>

where xxx is the preffix associated with a particular vendor-specific extension
namespace (e.g. msxsl, or saxon, or xt)

Hope this helped.

Dimitre Novatchev.
