Hi, Jeff:
The problem you have is because value of
xsl:variable can NOT be updated. Once they are set,
they retain that value within the scope they are
defined. It is one of the most commonly made mistakes
in XSL.
In your case, I think your code can be easily
changed to use xsl:choose to get what you want:
<xsl:template name="myTemplate">
<xsl:for-each select="attribute">
<xsl:choose>
<xsl:when test="@type='Size'">
Size is present.
</xsl:when>
<xsl:otherwise>
Size was never found.
</xsl:otherwise>
</xsl:choose>
</xsl:for-each>
</xsl:template>
