Daniel,

I think you should forget the javascript and just do it like so...

<body scroll = "auto" leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" rightmargin="0"
bottommargin="0">
<table cellpadding='0' cellspacing='0' border='0' width='100%'
height='100%'>
<tr>
<td bgcolor="{$fgcolor}">
blah blah
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</body>

And don't forget to actually define the variable fgcolor.
