Can one element have more than one namespaces?

My instructor in a XSLT training said that 
one element can have multiple namespaces. 
Is this true? For example:
<employees xmlns="urn:nwtraders">
   <employee xmlns:myName="urn:mySpace">

The first employee belong to two namespaces?
