I would agree, since most of the web applications I've seen have not had a
strong relation between source and result that has definitely contributed to
my bias.

No argument here.  I believe both are very useful.  I was just trying to
argue for introducing programmers for web based applications initially
through pull techniques and then ease them into push ones.
