MyXml.xml is a valid QName so will be evaluated to return all the
<myXML.xml> element nodes that are children of the root of
document a.

This is most likely empty, and anyway isn't what you want:-)

<xsl:variable name='otherDoc' select='document("MyXml.xml")'/>

is closer, but you don't really need a variable at all.

All you need do is copy the identity transformation from the XSL spec
and then add one extra template

<xsl:template match="some-xpath-that-matches-where-you-want-to-graft">
 <xsl:copy-of select='document('MyXml.xml')"/>
</xsl:template>
