Well I thought that the poster's original recursive template replacing
' by \' would handle that (as long as the string was coming from the
source). The problem I was addressing was how to handle string literals
that were actually in the stylesheet. Replacing ' by anything else legal
in javascript such as variable refs would also work, as you say.
