but the markup says

 <index links="a b c d e f"/>

which translates to

 33 24 56 2 1 3

which we want to turn into "1-3, 24, 56". I agree that I could sort
"a b c d e f" (with some effort) into document order, but I dont know
whether they are all on the same page or not.
