Don't be, it was begining to look like a local machine problem. It
originally occurred on NT4 WS/SP4 with IE5 installed. I tried on
another machine with NT Server with same results. I threw the kids off
their Win98 SE PC and it worked correctly. Following the hint in
the Saxon installation guide I downloaded a new MS JVM - and of course
it all works OK now.
